About

Aggie Trap and Skeet Team

The Aggie Trap and Skeet Team is a Shotgun Club Sports Team that aims to teach the fundamentals of clay target shooting while producing competitive shooters to compete against other universities in the Scholastic Clay Target Programs’ Collegiate Shooting League.  Clay target shooting has been in the Olympics since 1896 and is a sport many Universities around the United States offer either as a legitimate sports team or through club athletics including WestPoint, Purdue, Texas A&M, Clemson, and many others.

The team will currently be practicing at Butterfield Shooting Range and follows all SCTP, NSSA, NSCA, ATA, and 4-H shooting sports regulations. The Team hopes to compete against other collegiate shooting programs and give New Mexico High School shooters an in-state option to continue their shooting career.

The team strives for excellence in firearm safety and ethics, while trying to preserve the sport of clay target shooting and give access to students to compete in Skeet, Trap, and Sporting Clay competitions. As a collegiate shotgun team, we set the example of excellent sportsmanship and range ethics, while serving as role models to all the youth in 4-H and scholastic shooting programs.
